Good morning Kate

This morning Kate came into our bedroom after the second night of staying "dry" (we may even be potty trained for the night soon, who knows?) and the first thing she said was "Mom I want to smell your hair" so I let her and asked "what does it smell like?" she said "m&m's" then she wanted me to smell hers and I told her it smelled like flowers.

Then she wanted me to smell her fingernails and I told her they smelled like chocolate candy then she smelled mine and said they smelled like angels.

Summer time

Ok I guess it's been long enough, I'll start blogging again.

Here's a quick rundown of the last little while. Ryan finished school hooray! And we have since re-arranged our house getting ready for little Tommy to come. which means in a condo, that can get tricky, we managed to combine some furniture and other things to make it all fit and work but it's quite comical, our bedroom has now become furniture warehouse. We have the office set up in one corner, our bed with 2 night stands on each side, the book case, the dresser the piano and we even managed to leave a walkway so that we can live too. ahhh what the heck, it's not beautiful but it works.

We went on a trip to Panaca for memorial day and that was super fun. The whole Wells family came and joined the Free family and they even said they would go back next year so it must have left a good enough impression on them :) We hiked, swam, found trilabites, lizard, frogs, crawdads, and snakes, and even managed to see a couple of wild horses. All in all it was a great trip, and Kate keeps talking about camping and going in the tent. It's funny, whenever it's windy outside she says in a sad voice "let's go in the tent" (she's afraid of the wind, we discovered).

Potty training is coming along fine, I found a whole bunch of polly pocket dolls on KSL and bought them and every day she can go without an accident she gets a new polly pocket! And I must say she is getting quite the collection. She loves to stack them up on the piano like it's their special castle, then she climbs up and plays the piano while she sings part of your world... I will try to get it on video without her knowing, it's pretty cute.

Ryan has had a horrible toothache since school ended and sure enough we need to schedule him a root canal. If only you could plan these things and they didn't spring up on you from one week to the next. luckily he has cleared up some of the infection so he's not in pain anymore. Just in time for the WMD (Wells Male Day) they do a guy trip every year to New Mexico, and that is where he is right now.

So there you have it, the run down. Hopefully I'll stay more up to date from now on.

Is there really a light at the end of this tunnel?

I think I might see an end to potty training, Kate is totally potty trained at home I don't even worry any more about accidents but the trick is when we leave the house. Well 2 days ago we went to blockbuster and she was wandering around then came and whispered to me "gotta go potty" so I casually but promptly found out where to go and she took her diaper off and climbed up on the potty and went! I tried not to make a huge deal of it and acted more like it's just what we do and she was cool with it. So then just yesterday we were at Wen and Lynnes house and she wandered off again to play and then came back and asked "where's the potty?" so I took her again and sure enough she had a dry diaper and went on the potty.

I'm learning an important lesson about potty training Patience. I tried wayyyyy too early and pushed wayyy to hard to have her get it and now it has become a power struggle and control issue. So I've spent the last 4-6 months letting her decide what she wants to do (wear a diaper, wear panties, etc..) and I think it might pay off. So with baby #2 I'm waiting till he's ready for sure. With Kate we're not there yet but at least we're on our way Hooray!

IT'S A BOY!! We are so excited to have a new little addition that now has a gender he's not an "it" anymore. hooray Blue it is.

Wicked

Anyone who knows me, knows that I have an obsession with Wicked the broadway play, and I've never seen it until this week! and I must say AMAZING!!! Truly Amazing, and was on the edge of my seat the WHOLE entire time.... Defying gravity totally gave me chills I loved every second of it! And when it ended I wanted it to start all over again. So yeah I would recommend it to everyone if you get a chance.

Spring Break

For Spring Break we decided to go to New Mexico for a change of scenery... Great timing because my cousin Ashley and Scott were there at the same time visiting some of their friends so we got to play a little with them. We got some shopping done of course, and we got to relax a bit too. The boys new hobby is pot gut shooting so they went and here is some of their (gross) souveniers. It was a great trip thanks Kim and Frank for always making it fun for us to visit.

Easter

Easter was lots of fun... we went to the annual Bennion Easter egg hunt party. there we had yummy subway sandwiches and salads, the kids got to color easter eggs and then went out in the front yard to find their special easter eggs. Kate did great she's such a big girl now which is so much fun. here's some cute shots of that day.
Then sunday morning Kate woke up to this trail of eggs leading her to a treasure hunt so she could eventually find her special easter basket.... In her basket is a Cinderella polly pocket doll and she still hasn't put that thing down... she absolutely loves to play with those and dress them over and over again. Easter sunday was fun especially to see all of the cute little kids all dolled up in their new clothes and hair done so cute. Kate got to wear her cute bunny bow that aunt Julie Jensen made... and I must say it was a hit. So thanks again Julie.

Gotta get to the temple

Conference was great.. I have a new resolve to get to the temple more often since I could walk to it I should make it a weekly habit.

You could have given me the world

So it's a little late getting here to the blog but I had a wonderful Birthday....not to sound pessimistic or anything but I didn't really have big or any expectations for the day this year... I was totally satisfied with WHATEVER even if that meant nothing as far as surprises, outings, etc... (maybe that neutral attitude comes with pregnancy... yep I'm sure it does) anyway, so I got up and took Ryan to school, then came home and got Kate some breakfast or as she would call it "Deen-r" (dinner). But when I went to open the fridge there was a cute card with a dvd attached all wrapped up in a cute bow, Ryan had put it there cuz he knew I would find it. The dvd was Twighlight of course and we were able to watch it together when he got home from his night class. That was great. ( I love the thought...it truly is the thought that counts for me) anyway I loved it, he surprised me and to tell you the truth he could have put a sticky note to the carton of milk that said "I love you" and it totally would have had the same effect....or he could have given me the world and I would have been just as thrilled. Thanks Ryan for all your sweetness.

I also was able to go and have a fun lunch that afternoon with my sisters and my mom at Jenni's house and she made us a delicious soup and lettuce wraps... and we had yummy oatmeal cookies. Of course we sat a chatted for a good chunk of the day about our lives and we laughed and cried...It's definitely becoming part of the lunch routine with them and I love it. It's great to have each other.

I will say that one of my favorite parts of the day was when Kate and I were driving in the car and out of nowhere Kate said from the back seat " oh Happy birthday mom" and then went on and kept playing. --the night before Ryan had told her to sing happy birthday to me the next day and i guess she remembered-- I need to give her more credit for what she can understand and process at this age (2 1/2). Anyway it was adorable... oh one other thing that is irrelevant but cute was when we got to Jenni's we got out of the car and their dog Chevy is always there to greet you, so I got Kate out of the car and she said in the sweetest voice " oh hi chevers....kissy kissy". Very cute

Well I was definitely given the world for my birthday and I have some other fun things coming up too...that are birthday gifts, I went to dinner with Ryan a few nights later at Good Wood, and in a few weeks I get to go see Wicked and if you know me you'll know that that has been a long awaited want of mine, so I finally get to see it hooray!
